Natasha Bedingfield has startled fans with an appearance on television to discuss her smash album 20 years after its debut.
Natasha, now 42, published her debut album, Unwritten, in 2004, which sold over 2.3 million copies worldwide.
It featured singles such as These Words and Single, as well as the title tune, which earned her a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
She also received nominations for Best British Female Artist at the 2005 and 2006 Brit Awards.
Her most recent album, Roll With Me, was out in 2019.
However, one of her most popular songs, Unwritten, has recently returned to the charts two decades later after appearing in the rom-com Anyone But You, starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell.
The song was formerly renowned for being the soundtrack of the reality TV series The Hills, which aired from 2006 to 2010.
This week, Natasha appeared on Lorraine to discuss the song’s resurgence and the value it still carries for her years later.
Natasha told the presenter that the song had reached a whole new generation, and that it had also been frequently utilised on TikTok in the last several weeks.‘The message really is about releasing your inhibitions, so I am happy that has got through,’ she said.
‘I love it. I am so enjoying it [its renewed popularity].’
Referencing the recent popularity of Murder on the Dancefloor in Saltburn, Natasha said she agreed with Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s sentiments that they could now enjoy the success of the song ‘more this time around’.
The performer, who lives between the UK and New York, said despite being through ‘ups and downs’ in her career, she was at her happiest in recent years.
‘Music does that. You can talk through real things you’ve gone through. Now I’ve had more experiences I can really…when I wrote Unwritten, I didn’t know how much it would apply to me now, but I really try to live by it,’ she said.
She said that her six-year-old son ‘liked’ listening to her music, and she was ‘fortunate’ that he was at an age when he wasn’t embarrassed by his mother’s job.
During the conversation, several people said that Natasha appeared to have not aged since she initially became a household figure.‘Natasha has hardly aged a day. God, I loved Unwritten growing up,’ Matty posted on X.
‘How on earth is Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten 20 years old?!’ Lauren Trueman shared.

Natasha uploaded a humorous photograph of herself pasted onto a wave earlier this week, when the song debuted on the charts in the United Kingdom and Germany.
‘Surfing back to your ears. This #anyonebutyoumovie stuff is still going strong,’ she wrote.
‘Thank you all so much. It’s kind of intense.’
She later added she was ‘touched by the love’.
