Busted fans aren’t the only ones who are giddy at the band’s surprising reunion; Emma Willis and Laura Whitmore are, too.
Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis, and James Bourne have announced a tour later this year, as well as new renditions of their biggest singles, including Year 3000 and What I Go To School For.
Their UK tour will begin in September, with stops in Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool, and London, before concluding three weeks later in Manchester.
Matt’s wife Emma, 47, was one of the first celebrities to rejoice in the exciting news, and shared the announcement to her Instagram stories alongside a photo of her rocker husband, 39, with the caption: ‘Fit,’ alongside a gif featuring a flashing heart.
The ex-Big Brother host added: ‘Well this is gonna be fun!!’
Former Love Island host Laura, 37, was also loving the good news and commented on Matt’s Instagram post: ‘Yes Matt!’ with clapping emoji.
After the news broke, James, 39, surprised fans by tweeting a fresh photo of the fellas sitting on a set of stairs and revealing, ”The reality is we’ve been recording in Los Angeles since January… secrets revealed! ‘I’ll see you on tour.’
‘Who’s that good looking man in the back?’ joked Matt in the comments section.
Busted, who debuted more than 20 years ago, will release no less than 15 tracks.
Instead of totally new songs, the three-piece has crafted reworks of some of its most memorable tunes and will play them with some of the scene’s biggest stars.
The first is a new version of Loser Kid, from Busted’s debut album; the song will be released on April 14 and will include pop rock artists Simple Plan. Other forthcoming singles will include special guests McFly, All Time Low, and more, the identities of whom will be revealed later.
It comes after Charlie foreshadowed the big reunion during an interview with Lorraine Kelly, saying: ”This year marks the 20th anniversary of Busted.
‘Sworn to secrecy again… but there may be some stuff in the pipeline.’
Busted started in 2000 and released their debut self-titled album in 2002, before their 2003 record A Present For Everyone catapulted them to even greater prominence.
Fans were heartbroken by their divorce in 2005, with many recalling actual tears in the playground the day the news was released; all three went on to create solo careers or front new bands.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. on March 31, but fans who sign up for Busted’s mailing list will have access to a pre-sale beginning at 9 a.m. on March 29.
