A California Christmas has become one of the biggest festive films on Netflix this year and a sequel is official on the way.
Yep, Josh and Lauren Swickard are set to reprise their roles for another holiday rom-com titled California Christmas: City Lights.
The pair’s hit movie – which was written by Lauren – follows wealthy business owner Joseph, who pretends to be a farmhand in order to try and trick a woman named Cassie into selling her family ranch.
Naturally, things end up heading in a more romantic direction instead.
According to Variety, the second film will begin production early 2021 with filming taking place in various parts of northern California.
The sequel will follow Lauren’s character Cassie as she tried to get acclimated to her new life as a socialite as her relationship with Joseph progresses.
Lauren is once again writing the sequel while Shaun Piccinino is returning as director.
It’s no surprise fans love seeing as Josh and Lauren are no strangers to starring together in romantic movies.
In fact, the pair actually met and fell in love on the set of their previous flick, Roped.
However, the couple exclusively told Metro.co.uk that they chose not to start dating each other until filming had finished.
Josh explained: ‘I think we both just felt it is smarter to keep work as work. But obviously, we felt that connection so afterward we started to hang out.’
The pair didn’t expect that they would already be married and living together before the film came out, but it made watching along even more special.
The General Hospital star explained: ‘It was such a trip to watch the film together for the first time when we were married in real life.
‘The film was packaged and shopped around for a long time so we had to wait a while to see it. We are so thankful it ended up in Netflix!’
