There are several ways to eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, whether you want them thick or thin, stacked high or single.
It’s not just a chance to try new toppings, but it’s also an excuse to skip regular meals in favour of pancakes.
But, how much fun you will have depends on your ability to perform the perfect pancake flip.
You’ll end up with a sad, crumpled mess on the kitchen floor if you make one wrong move.
So, how can you employ your skills on Pancake Day?
Fortunately, chef Lisa Marley (@lisamarleychef) has delivered. She’s taught you how to perfect the perfect pancake toss so you can flip with ease.
Lisa feels that a few factors are crucial in the planning process. After all, neglecting to prepare is equivalent to planning to fail.
First and foremost, she emphasises the need of a nonstick pan for your pancake station.
Let your batter to rest for five minutes before frying, whether it’s plant-based or dairy-based.
Before adding butter or oil, make sure your frying pan is hot.
In her video, Lisa advises stirring the batter in the pan. Shake the pan as bubbles appear to raise the pancake away from the bottom.
This is when you know you’re ready to throw the coin.
‘It’s all in the wrist motion,’ Lisa says of the flip itself. Firm and quick.’
That’s the end of it.
