Sophie Turner is not interested in the depressing Olympic advertisements that have been noticed on the walls of a Times Square tube stop.
Ozempic is an FDA-approved prescription medicine that is typically used to treat type 2 diabetes; however, the drug has lately made news due to its use in weight reduction.
Taking to social media this week, the former Game of Thrones actor shared a picture of the advertisement emblazoned on the walls of the New York train stop, writing, ‘WTF.’
Sophie, 27, has previously been extremely open about her battles with body positivity, admitting that she was once so desperate to drop weight that she turned to eating “only nuts.”
Sophie re-posted a photo from social media user Chelsea Vershbow, who wrote beneath the posters, ‘The Olympics advertisements plastered across the Times Square tube stop can f*** all the way off.’
Model Charli Howard first called attention to the advertisements on Twitter, writing, ‘Posters like this are troublesome in a lot of ways, particularly from a fatphobic perspective.’
She went on: ‘You only need to Google a few articles to see what celebrities are meant to be taking it. The poster is shot in an artistic way.
‘I worry we’re falling back into toxic times – and truly hope young women won’t take drastic measures. You have one body: please take care of it.’
Sophie had significant body image problems as a result of growing up in the limelight, and at one point she would consume nothing but nuts, ultimately seeking therapy when her weight dropped so low that her periods ceased.
‘Suddenly, everyone’s metabolism goes down at 17, 18, and that’s recorded,’ she told the Sunday Times in 2019. Everything, including my epidermis. People are remarking on it.’
Sophie, who shares two daughters with popstar Joe Jonas, added: ‘I was too aware of my body at a young age. And it just kind of took over my mind, it was all I would think about. Calorie counting, everything. Oh, I’ll just eat nuts today.
‘I stopped having my period for a year – that’s when I decided to have therapy.’
