Sharon Osbourne and her husband Ozzy Osbourne are still planning on euthanasia if they get a neurological illness.
Sharon, 71, said years ago that she and Ozzy, 74, had planned to take their lives if they became bedridden.
The former X Factor judge has been married to Black Sabbath guitarist Ozzy since 1982, and the couple has three children: Aimee, 40, Kelly, 38, and Jack, 37.
Sharon, Ozzy’s doting mother, revealed last week that their assisted suicide agreement is still in effect.
The conversation took place on the famous family’s The Osbournes Podcast when Jack asked his mum whether euthanasia was ‘still a plan’ for her and Ozzy.
‘Do you think that we’re gonna suffer?’ Sharon jokingly replied, prompting Jack to quip: ‘Aren’t we already all suffering?’
Sharon then said: ‘Yes, we all are, but I don’t want it to actually hurt, as well. Mental suffering is enough pain without physical. So if you’ve got mental and physical, see ya.’
Kelly immediately questioned her mother’s belief that she could survive any probable disease, but Sharon pointed out that survival does not always imply the ability to preserve essential human capabilities.
Kelly asked: ‘But what if you could survive?’ to which her mum replied, ‘Yeah, what if you survived and you can’t wipe your own ass, you’re p*****g everywhere, s*****g, can’t eat.’
Sharon disclosed more than a decade ago that she and her husband had planned to carry out an assisted suicide plan if they were so ill that they could no longer function cognitively.
She told the Mirror in 2007: ‘We believe 100 percent in euthanasia so [we] have drawn up plans to go to the assisted suicide flat in Switzerland if we ever have an illness that affects our brains. If Ozzy or I ever got Alzheimer’s, that’s it — we’d be off.
‘We gathered the kids around the kitchen table, told them our wishes and they’ve all agreed to go with it’.
Sharon’s father, music entrepreneur Don Arden, died of Alzheimer’s disease in 2007, which influenced her choice to establish such a contract with her husband.
