Rita Ora‘s fashion forward ensembles usually leave people speechless, but her newest Instagram post stirred uproar when she pushed a costly scan.
The Masked Singer judge, 33, uploaded photos of herself receiving the Prenuvo scan, which is believed to enable early diagnosis for more than 500 tumours and disorders.
She explained how she obtained the pioneering MRI scan as a preventative step, but that health check costs a hefty $2,499 (£1,968).
This is the same scan that Kim Kardashian came under criticism for advertising in August of last year, with many blasting her for it.
£2k is certainly a drop in the bucket for Kim or Rita, whose net worth is expected to be approximately $30 million in 2023, thanks in part to her recent Primark partnership.
Rita claimed that she was ‘being proactive’ with her health after learning that her mother, Vera, had breast cancer.
She wrote: ‘With my mum’s history of breast cancer, being proactive and not reactive with physical health has alway been so important to me. I’m a huge believer in doing anything I can to keep myself healthy and learn about my body.
‘So recently i went to @prenuvo to get a full body scan. I was so impressed by the incredible technology and the Prenuvo doctors who talked me through my results, and advised me on what i can do to take care of myself better.
‘I was walked through every step with support and guidance. Thank you so much guys.’
She labelled the caption with ‘#prenuvopartner’ to show that this was a partnership advertisement, implying that the business wanted her to promote their scan.
Fans lambasted the For You hitmaker for promoting something that’mere mortals’ cannot buy, especially when it’s being promoted as a medical need.
‘Arent you lucky Rita Ora that you can just get this done ’ expressed angry follower Talia.
Ste Wardman scathed: ‘Your fans can’t afford this but good for you, eh?’
‘But how much did that cost?! us mere mortals probably couldn’t afford that luxury ,’ commented Ralph.
‘Wow, advertising proactive scans for the wealthy and privileged, a full body MRI is something the vast majority of people can’t afford,’ questioned Claire Williams, who also asked if Rita paid for it at all.
A disappointed Karen Kellend agreed: ‘Forgetting who her fans are? I suppose we are all in different worlds on the same planet.’
Some people supported Rita’s motivation for obtaining the scan, however they pointed out that this special scan is not available outside of the United States (or Rita’s wealth bracket).
Despite her time in the United States with her renowned husband, Taika Waititi, the Poison singer is still best known in the United Kingdom rather than abroad, so many fans would be unable to access this without the added trip fee to the United States.
Rita did not respond to the criticism and instead reshared the picture on her Instagram story, advertising her Prenuvo coupon code, which offers you $300 off.
Her mum Vera also commented and supportively said: ‘Prevention is the key .’
