Maya Jama and Stormzy have been on sunny vacations this week, and many believe they’re dating.
Since the former couple, who split in 2019, were pictured enjoying a romantic catch-up at All Points East festival in London last Friday, where Stormzy, 30, was headlining, speculation about the nature of their relationship has been rife.
The two celebs were spotted chatting in the VIP section, where they sipped cocktails and talked with celebrities such as Idris Elba and Chunkz.
Maya, 29, has been uploading lovely photographs from her sun-kissed holiday since then, while Stormzy has been sending disturbingly similar vibes from his own location.
Maya is shown enjoying a cocktail in one of her Instagram posts, with a thatched roof of bamboo reeds in the background. Stormzy, maybe ironically, released a TikTok showing himself lying on a sofa with a very similar sort of roof above his head. There was also a chair in front of him that looked to be at the same angle as Maya in her video.
They are also both sleeping at a high-end hotel with stone walls, lush foliage, crystal blue swimming pools, and sunset views.
Fans are speculating whether they’ve actually jetted off together, with one tweeting: ‘Oh Maya and Stormzy definitely on this holiday together. How cute.’
Another joined in: ‘I feel like Stormzy & Maya are on holiday together. Please let this be true. They are my fav.’
Alongside a prayer-hand emoji, one other commented: ‘Stormzy and Maya are on holiday together the world is healing.’
One fan added: ‘Stormzy’s tiktok and Maya recent IG posts….. they’re on holiday together lmfaoooo.’
Maya had previously uploaded a snapshot of two glasses, implying she would have company on the retreat.
The former BBC Radio 1 presenter was backstage at All Points East, where the images of her and Stormzy were shot, on her brief visit to the UK last week after spending her 29th birthday in Ibiza. It was the first time in a long time that the former couple, who had been together for four years, had been seen hanging out together.
A source told The Sun: ‘Maya and Stormzy may not be officially dating anymore, but they are still close and grew up together.
‘She is really proud of him and vice versa. They’ll always have a special bond.’
‘They spent time catching up and chatting, people were looking at them and giving them their space,’ they added.
Stormzy has always expressed public sadness about the termination of their relationship, and it is even reported that he wrote songs about Maya for his newest album, This Is What I Mean, including the tune Firebabe.
The Vossi Bop rapper told Louis Theroux in a BBC documentary: ‘It was, like, “OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you.”
‘That’s probably the biggest loss a man can have, isn’t it? There were other things in terms of mistakes I’d made. I didn’t do what a man should do to fully appreciate, love and care for his woman.’
Vogue cover star Maya also told the magazine last month of their relationship: ‘None of us really knew the level of importance it held to a certain group of people, us being together.
‘We were both super ambitious. We were both from similar upbringings and we were both just little grafters that have made something good of ourselves. It was lovely when it was lovely, and then you move.’
In other touching news, Maya found time to give back by purchasing a minibus for a local basketball club in Bristol. Maya, who is from Bristol, chose to help the under-16s team after hearing about their struggles from her younger brother, who is a member of the squad, after finding that the Bristol Storm had only raised £100 for the new car through a fundraiser.
Bristol Storm’s previous bus had failed its MoT, and the brand new vehicle arrived last week due to a £56,000 donation from Maya.
Discussing Maya’s incredible gesture when chatting to The Sun, the team’s coach, 44-year-old David Senart, said: ‘She’s a lovely person. When she said she wanted to buy us a new minibus, I cried.’
He added: ‘She saw the importance of what we’re doing and the impact on these kids’ lives.
