Madonna is claimed to have ‘ignored’ signals of sickness in order to continue tour rehearsals in order to put on a flawless performance.
The 64-year-old singer was recently brought to the hospital and is presently recovering from a bacterial illness that landed her in the intensive care unit at the end of last month.
She aroused worry after it was reported that she was found ‘unresponsive’ in her apartment on Saturday, June 24, and was transported ‘to the hospital and intubated’ shortly thereafter.
An source has commented on the Material Girl hitmaker’s moves previous to her hospitalisation and her future concerts since word of her sickness broke.
They told People: ‘She ignored some symptoms of illness for quite a while because she thought they would go away. But she didn’t want to take time away from rehearsals.
‘She was rundown and not feeling 100 percent for a while in anticipation of her tour. She is relentless in her quest to be the best, to wow her fans and to do what others before her have not done.’
According to the newspaper, a different insider also mentioned the star’s hectic work schedule.
They claimed: ‘Madonna has been very busy for a long time and not taking care of herself. She just continues to push herself beyond the limit.’
Guy Oseary, Madonna’s talent manager, gave the public the first update on her health in a message posted on social media.
‘On Saturday, June 24, Madonna acquired a significant bacterial illness, which resulted in a several-day hospitalisation in the ICU,’ he wrote.
‘Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.
‘At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.’
Following the announcement, a source revealed to DailyMail.com that the chart-topper is now ‘out of the ICU and recovering’.
Madonna was scheduled to begin her 84-city Celebration tour on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, but her sickness forced her to cancel.
