When Jason Manford glanced in the mirror earlier this afternoon while getting ready for his role in The Wizard of Oz, he received the shock of his life.
The 42-year-old comic is presently playing the cowardly lion in the classic book’s London Palladium production.
‘I was just getting ready for the show, and you’ll notice there’s a little hair here,’ he said, pointing to his left ear.
But just like any other uneducated onlooker, the comedian assumed it must be a rogue – but not unusual – hair from his head. Little did he know, it was so much more than that.
‘I thought, “Oh, I’ve had my hair cut the other day and I can’t believe that they’ve left a hair sticking out,’ he explained.
‘So I went to pull it, and its connected to my ear!’
Although ear canal hair is anticipated, Jason’s amazement is understandable given that it wasn’t sprouting from the inside of his ear at all, but rather from his helix.
We’re curious how long this unexpected hair, almost thread-like in texture, has been growing on Jason’s ear.
Given its amazing length (around an inch or so), we believe it has been following him to his West End play every night for quite some time.
Lost for words, Jason continued: ‘How? How is there a… How is there a hair that long connected to my ear? What the…
‘I’m going to get my ear permed,’ he joked, clearly taking the creepy growth on the chin (or ear).
Hilariously, still totally baffled, he continued: ‘What the f*** is going on?!’
The 8 out of 10 cats star shared the video, alongside the words: ‘Truly one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever found on my body! God I hate getting older.’
Jason’s admirers were quick to mock him, with one posting a clip of someone wearing a Scar mask from The Lion King and writing, ‘Lets be honest, Jason…’
Another offered words of wisdom, as they wrote: ‘Yup. Ever since I got into my early 40s, hair has been sprouting everywhere. The stray 2 inch long eyebrow hairs are the worst.’
A fellow sympathiser wrote: ‘Great isn’t it… The older you get, the less hair grows where it’s supposed to (on your head) and starts appearing everywhere else.’
Happens to us all Jason, it’s not that bad.
