Olly Murs has gotten off to a great start in his upcoming marriage, with the one and only Idris Elba giving him marital advise.
After announcing their engagement in June, the Heart Skips A Beat singer is due to marry girlfriend Amelia Tank later this year.
With their wedding this summer, there is understandable tension between Olly, 38, and Amelia, 30, with the popstar confessing the couple had had some’spats’ in recent weeks.
When Luther star Idris came by Heart Radio this week, Olly took advantage of the chance to ask the actor, who has been happily married to wife Sabrina since 2019, for advice on what constitutes a great marriage.
On Thursday, Idris, 50, appeared on Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston’s Morning Show and was shown a tape of fellow Heart presenter Olly asking: ‘Hey, I’m Olly Murs, and I’m getting married this summer and I’d appreciate some marital advise whatever advice you can offer me would be useful.’
The Wire actor responded with a ‘wow,’ to which Amanda said, ‘Both of you are happily married.’
Idris then advised the singer: ‘Don’t go to bed angry.’
Amanda, 52, who has been married to Chris Hughes since 2008, said, ‘Well, yes, just apologise. You know you’re always in the wrong and she’s always right…,’ the group laughed.
Andy Serkis, who co-stars with Idris Elba in Luther: The Fallen Sun, said, ‘That’s bad advise,’ to which Amanda responded, ‘I’ve been married 20 years!’
Olly proposed to Amelia last summer after dating her for three years, and the couple is set to marry in June or July.
Earlier this week, the Dance With Me Tonight hitmaker admits to bickering with his soon-to-be bride as they finalise their wedding plans.
Speaking of their wedding planning, Olly said on his radio show: ‘I’m really enjoying it actually; more than I thought I was going to.
‘I didn’t realise how much goes into it. But it’s really fun. We’re having a really great time,’ he told Heart Breakfast hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden.
However, he then revealed: ‘The most we’ve ever had an argument in our relationship in four years.
‘But it’s good. We just disagree on a couple of little bits, but it’s going to be a lovely day really special. And yesterday, I was picking my suit…’
