After decades of wrestling-related injuries, Hulk Hogan is feeling ‘better than ever’.
The WWE Hall of Famer, who will turn 70 in August, has launched a new health and wellness brand with cannabis company Carma HoldCo and attributed CBD and THC with assisting him in dealing with his numerous problems.
Now, he has revealed plans for a product line that will include CBD, THC, and “functional mushrooms.”
Speaking to TMZ Sports, he said: ‘I always joke about I didn’t get the memo that this stuff was “fake” and after the 10 back surgery and two knees and two hips, it’s just a situation of you do get hurt out there all the time.
‘I feel better than I’ve ever felt at 69 years old, I feel like I’m 25 again.’
After decades in the wrestling industry, the former world champion has been frank about the daily agony he endures, and he recently altered his lifestyle by avoiding painkillers.
‘It definitely helped me because as I said the slow walk back from the prescription drugs ended with me downing the Tylenol and the Advil and Aleve’s and finally even that wasn’t working for me,’ he added.
‘As I moved away from that and got into the CBD world, it really changed the game from my sleep to the inflammation, the way my wrists and my joints hurt, across the board, it helped me with my health.’
His new brand will place him under the same jurisdiction as Mike Tyson and Ric Flair, both of whom have already released their own cannabis product lines.
‘When I saw what Ric and Mike were doing, I instantly wanted to get on the team because you use CBD for energy, for sleep, for fitness – it just made sense,’ he claimed.
According to the NHS, despite their greater availability in the United States, many products may be illegal and ‘potentially hazardous’ in the United Kingdom.
The organisation warns: ‘Some products that might claim to be medical cannabis, such as CBD oil or hemp oil, are available to buy legally as food supplements from health stores. But there’s no guarantee these are of good quality or provide any health benefits.’
And while the NHS acknowledges ‘some evidence’ that medical cannabis relieves ‘certain forms of pain,’ they do not consider this evidence to be ‘strong enough to recommend.
They added: ‘The risks of using cannabis products containing THC (the chemical that gets you high) are not currently clear. That’s why clinical trials are needed before they can be used. Products that only contain CBD, such as Epidyolex, do not carry these unknown risks linked with THC.’
