Hailey Bieber has been recovering from a minor stroke that led in the discovery of a hole in her heart for one year.
Last March, the model, 26, was sent to the hospital after experiencing stroke-like symptoms while having breakfast with hubby Justin Bieber, 29.
Hailey subsequently stated to her followers that she felt a’really odd sensation’ that went from her shoulder down to her arm and into her fingertips.
Hailey was unable to respond when Justin asked whether she was okay, and the right half of her face began to droop.
Hailey’s terrifying trauma was caused by a blood clot in her brain, and she is now sharing knowledge that may save others in the future.
The Victoria’s Secret model honoured the anniversary of her health scare and how she found she had Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO), a cardiac ailment in which a hole forms between the left and right sides of her heart, on her Instagram Story, where she has 49.4 million followers.
‘Can’t believe it’s been one year since I suffered a mini stroke that led to my PFO diagnosis,’ she wrote.
She shared a YouTube video from a year ago in which she explained how she discovered the issue.
‘Given that it’s the one-year mark from such a life-changing event, I wanted to share all the information I’ve learned about PFO and share resources to donate,’ Hailey continued.
She then included a donation link to UCLA Health, which assisted her with her diagnosis.
Hailey went on to share facts concerning PFO, claiming that it is ‘the most congenital heart condition’, impacting ‘20% of all people’.
The Rhode founder earlier discussed the psychological effects of her stroke.
Hailey admits to having ‘a little PTSD’ since then (post-traumatic stress disorder).
‘I struggled with a lot of anxiety after. I struggled with a little bit of PTSD, of just like the fear of maybe it was gonna happen again,’ she said on The Run-Through With Vogue podcast.
‘It was just a feeling that I was, like, I never want to experience that ever again. I mean, it was so terrifying, so jarring, so discombobulating in every single way that you could imagine.’
Hailey went on to say that she still finds it’really difficult’ to talk about what happened to her, despite wanting to be honest in order to ‘help somebody else.’
‘Even the YouTube video that I had made for my YouTube channel was hard for me,’ she admitted. ‘It brings back the feelings for me of going through that experience. It gets easier, and easier with time to be able to talk about it.
‘I’m just really grateful that I was able to have had amazing doctors, and nurses, and people that helped me get to the bottom of what actually happened.’
While there will always be worries for the runway model, Hailey is fully aware that the situation ‘could’ have been so much worse.
