Gregg Wallace, MasterChef presenter, has revealed an important milestone update on his nonverbal autistic kid.
The former Inside the Factory host, 59, and wife Anne-Marie Sterpini, 37, had Sid, now four, in 2019. Sid is nonverbal and has autism, requiring special educational help.
Gregg often posts updates on his family life on social media, the most recent of which was a heartwarming video of Sid’s newest success.
The TV celebrity was overjoyed when she posted a candid video of the toddler counting, which would ordinarily appear to be a nice but inconspicuous movie. It recorded Sid’s first words.
‘Sid is counting! It’s his first words!’ the TV presenter wrote over the footage, as he added in the caption: ‘I just want to put my arms around every parent of an autistic nonverbal child right now.’
Friends of the family flocked to the comments to congratulate Sid on the monumental achievement, with model April Jackson ‘jumping for joy’ despite not meeting the boy.
Former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison extended her congratulations, while Googlebox star Mica Ven said the video ‘made her day.’
Gregg’s daughter Libby, who he shares with ex-wife Denise Wallace, wrote: ‘I can’t stop watching the videos Anna sent me and it makes me sob every single time. So so proud of little Sid, what a lad ’
It comes after the MasterChef star made comments about his son that sparked allegations of being a ‘poor dad.’
He detailed his Saturday routine, admitting that having Sid as an elder father in his 50s isn’t something he would have chosen at his age. He also mentioned that his mother-in-law moved in after he sought help in the house.
Gregg clarified his comments in a video posted to his Instagram and called the response to his Saturday routine, featured in The Telegraph Magazine, ‘unfair’.
‘There are just two things I want to address here with Sid [Gregg’s son]. People said “So you spend an hour and a half with your son, but then spend two hours on your computer”. No – I’m with my son in the house all the time,’ he wrote.
‘I just didn’t write down “Had a tickle with Sid, playing around the living room” – you’re not logging every minute of the day. I just logged the blocks. So, it didn’t mean that’s all I saw him that day.’
Gregg also pointed out that if was living in the house with someone then ‘you’re interacting with them all the time’.
‘Not only that – that is a snapshot of one Saturday. I hope that makes sense to everybody,’ he shared.
