David Beckham and his daughter Harper appeared to have a great time at Elton John’s last London gig yesterday.
The ex-footballer, 48, and the 11-year-old appeared to be enjoying the special occasion as the Tiny Dancer hitmaker sang Crocodile Rock on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
The Beckhams appeared to have reserved a special section of the O2 for the event, as you would if you were the Beckhams and good friends with the man on stage.
Victoria Beckham, 49, took the sweet video of her husband and daughter, and was full of love in the caption, as she wrote, ‘Wait for it,’ followed by some emotional emoji usage, and then: ‘I love you so much @brooklynpeltzbeckham @crusbeckham @nicolaanndpeltzbeckham #harperseven Final show in London we love you @eltonjohn x.’
In the video, David can be seen showing off his vocal range as he sang along with the rest of the crowd to the familiar, ‘la la la la laaaa.’
Harper watched along with one arm around her dad’s neck, and he held her hand sweetly as he sang and bobbed along to the iconic track.
After smiling at her father’s vocal attempts and gazing at her mother filming the video, Harper quickly joined in.
Fans were loving the sweet video posted by the Spice Girl, as one said: ‘How cool to have David Beckham as your dad.’
Another wrote: The look on your daughter’s face. She loved it!’
The Beckhams and the 76-year-old Rocket Man hitmaker have a long history, and the singing icon is also Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham’s godfather.
They are so close that the family, which includes Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 20, Cruz, 18, and Harper, refers to him as “Uncle Elton.”
Sir Elton also had a role in VB’s decision to leave the Spice Girls in 2000.
In an interview with Vogue Australia about her time in the band, she admitted that witnessing Elton play live made her feel like she was ‘squandering’ her own chance.
‘I was with Elton John this weekend and I told him, “You’re the reason why I stopped the Spice Girls,”’ she explained.
‘I went to see him in Vegas in doing The Red Piano, where David LaChapelle curated the most incredible show with him, and I remember sitting there very near to the front and looking at him singing those songs he’d sung time after time, year after year, and his passion and his enjoyment was incredible, even after all that time.
‘And a few nights later, I was on stage at Madison Square Garden with the Spice Girls and I thought: “It’s almost like a waste that I’m given this opportunity. I appreciate the time I’ve had with the girls, but I don’t have what Elton can have after all these years.”
‘There was nothing there, other than that my kids were in the audience and I wanted them to see Mummy doing the Spice Girls.’
This comes after Mel B, another Spice Girl, stated that Victoria is returning to the band and that an announcement is imminent.
In 2019, the renowned band performed as a four-piece sans Victoria, with only Mel B, Mel C, Geri Horner, and Emma Bunton.
Mel added to The Sun that she didn’t need to ‘convince’ Victoria to come back as they’ve ‘always been in contact’ and they have a groupchat, but ‘it’s all about timing.’
‘And we’ve managed to do that so there should be an announcement pretty soon,’ she teased.
Sir Elton’s concert at the O2 last night was his penultimate London performance before embarking on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which will take him to Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Paris, Zurich, Copenhagen, and ultimately Stockholm on July 8.
Elton’s final scheduled appearance in the UK will be at Glastonbury at the end of June.
This is the star’s last tour to commemorate a six-decade career, and his performance has received glowing reviews.
