Carrie Hope Fletcher, an actress, married her fiancé Joel Montague in a private ceremony.
The pair, who had been dating for less than a year, married at Gretna Green’s famed Blacksmiths Shop only a few days before Valentine’s Day.
Only a handful of witnesses, a photographer, and the registrar were present for the ceremony.
Carrie’s family, including brother Tom Fletcher, were also kept in the dark about the wedding arrangements until the night before, when they were notified through FaceTime.
Carrie, 30, looked every inch the radiant bride in a flowing white Phase Eight gown.
She finished the outfit with a dried flower arrangement and a crown woven around her auburn hair.
Joel, 36, looked smart in a grey check three-piece suit.
Carrie outlined the couple’s reasoning for the low-key wedding to Hello.
‘Everything we do is a performance and in front of people and we just thought, let’s do away with that on what’s meant to be the happiest day of our lives,’ she said.
The Les Misérables actress stated her family was “thrilled” to learn she was getting married.
‘My brother and I like being on stage in the context of what we do – me playing a character and Tom playing with his band – but if you put us in front of a big group of people as ourselves we get really nervous. So I think my brother quite liked the idea that I was just running away and doing this in private.’

Carrie and Joel started dating in May of last year, after she divorced actor Oliver Ormson.
Carrier confirmed the couple’s engagement in an Instagram photo in October, flashing a huge, green ring.
‘I’ve landed a new role! One I’ll be playing for the rest of my life… Mrs Montague,’ she penned accompanied by a cheeky photo of the pair posing in a theatre.
She went on to say on her Instagram Stories at the time that she had had “the finest weekend of her life” after the proposal.
