Dominic Raab won’t step down from his position without hearing Carol Vorderman out first.
This morning, the MP for Esher and Walton announced his resignation as Rishi Sunak’s replacement as deputy prime minister on social media.
This occurs following the presentation to Mr. Sunak of the findings of an inquiry into allegations that Mr. Raab had harassed employees while in office.
In his letter of resignation, Mr. Raab said he was “duty bound” to quit but did not appear to accept responsibility for the report’s findings, which have yet to be made public.
The Tory MP was accused of forcing his employees to cry or vomit before meetings, making him the third cabinet member in just six months to resign over ethical concerns.
While Mr. Raab expressed his “sincere regret” for any “unintended stress” he may have caused to the officials who filed complaints against him, he claimed that the report “set the threshold for bullying so low” and as a result created a “dangerous precedent” for instances to come.
However, a lot of people on Twitter disagreed with Mr. Raab’s statements, including the 62-year-old former Countdown presenter who has previously spoken out against Tory MPs like Mr. Raab.
Carol expressed her displeasure with Mr. Raab’s resignation letter on Twitter to her 751k followers when he posted it there this morning.
‘Dominic Raab, his resignation letter,’ she began.
‘The bully, and as with all bullies, defends, denies…. They are all cowards in the end.’
Fans of the I’m A Celebrity star were loving her shade towards the Tory MP, as one wrote: ‘Carol please keep doing you! We love it x thank you for being on our side!’
Another said: ‘Sums it up perfectly Carol.’
Someone else commented about their exasperation over how many similar scenarios have occurred of late, as they said: ‘How many of these letters have we seen these last few years..’
Carol has already criticised Mr. Raab for mispronouncing the late TV icon’s name in Parliament just a few weeks ago, on the tragic day of the news of Paul O’Grady’s passing.
Mr. Raab attempted (and failed) to follow Sir Chris Bryant’s moving homage in the House of Commons, which one Twitter user described as “possibly one of the most painful Parliament moments in history.”
‘I totally agree with him, Paul Grayson was an incredible comic but he also…’ he started, before trailing off as MPs picked up on his mistake, to which he grinned and corrected himself.
Naturally, the maths whiz hit back, as she wrote: ‘DominD**k Ar*e,’ before quipping, ‘Ooh soz I got his name wrong’.
‘Name checking Paul O’Grady as Paul Grayson in the House of Commons today For many reasons, I think there’s a special place in hell for this bullying piece of…… Don’t you?’
infamous MP Since Matt Hancock controversially competed on I’m A Celebrity while holding office as an MP, he was also the target of Carol’s fury.
Soon later, Carol met Mr. Hancock at the Cheltenham races, which was unfortunate for her since what happened next was quite unpleasant.
