Bill Bailey has led tributes to the late Sean Lock on the one year anniversary of his death.
The revered comedian died in August 2021 after a private battle with cancer.
Best-known for his incredible career on TV panel shows and stand-up, Lock’s death devastated those in the industry, with close friend Bailey going on to raise money for cancer research in his honour.
Following his 100-mile charity walk, Bailey has now remembered his ‘dear friend’ on his anniversary.
Taking to Instagram, Bailey shared a photo of the backpack he used on his incredible trek, on which a photo of Lock was hanging.
He wrote: ‘Today will be one year since we lost the brilliant comedian and my dear friend Sean Lock.
‘With his family and friends we’ve just completed a 100 mile walk on Sean’s memory, and to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.’
He went on to urge followers and friends to continue donating to the JustGiving page, saying it would be ‘hugely appreciated.’
On Twitter, Bailey went on to say he was ‘thinking about him and his family’ today, adding: ‘Miss you Sean.’
Fans also shared their love for the 8 Out Of 10 Cats star, with tributes flooding the site.
One person shared a sweet message remembering him as ‘a comedy legend – he always will be,’ saying ‘his impacts upon our culture and the genre as a whole are everlasting.’
Channel 4, on which Lock was a regular on comedy panel shows, shared a photo of the late star and wrote: ‘Remembering Sean Lock, one year on.’
Inbetweeners star and Lock’s friend Martin Trenaman wrote: ‘A year ago today we lost my dear friend Sean Lock.
‘I miss him terribly. My thoughts are with Anoushka and the children.’
To which actor and comedian Michael Smiley replied: ‘Sending you love, Martin, you created some beautiful work together. I miss him too, I’ve spent the last year rewatching 8 out of ten compilations laughing then crying.
‘He is my favourite comedian. We lost a great man. Loving prayers for his family.’
Last week, Bailey walked from Bude in Cornwall to Combe Martin in Devo, one of his and Lock’s favourite routes.
The group, which included comedian Lee Mack, raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support which provided care for Lock and his family during his time of poor health.
They have so far raised over £125,000 through donations to their JustGiving page.
Speaking as the trek continued on Monday morning, Bailey told Good Morning Britain’s Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins: ‘I miss him all the time, everyday.
‘Grief is hard to pin down, it’s not something that’s an exact science, you never know how it’s going to affect you and it can sometimes just ambush you.’
The former Strictly Come Dancing star continued: ‘A phrase, a turn of phrase, a piece of music. Even a stretch of coastline that you walk, suddenly you get this flood of memories and that will trigger this response.
‘It’s very important to talk about it, I think talking about the person, reminiscing about them, keeping their memory alive is a way of dealing with it.’
