Love Island’s Amy Hart has revealed she has successfully frozen her eggs, after being told by medical professionals that she is likely to go into menopause in her early 40s.
Speaking on Loose Women, the 27-year-old reality star said that she has had five eggs successfully frozen as an ‘insurance policy’.
Talking to Charlene White, Jane Moore, Judi Love and Gloria Hunniford, Amy said: ‘I’ve got five in the freezer. They managed to grab another four more, which were the little on the small side.
‘But if they progress in the next few days, then they’ll be able to put those in the freezer as well,’ she added.
Explaining the decision to freeze her eggs, Amy added: ‘My mom and my nan and my auntie all had their children when they were 25 and all went through the menopause in their early 40s.
‘I went for a fertility MOT and all the results show that I’m heading for that same timeline,’ she added. ‘My eggs now are obviously a better quality than they will be in a year, two years, three years.’
Speaking about her plans for the future, Amy said: ‘I’ve always loved children, I definitely want to be a mum. When I was dating in my early 20s it was a big panic for me. Then my mum said one day, “I would always support you if you had a baby on your own”.’
She added: ‘So if I meet someone, amazing, but if not then I can have a baby.’
Amy went on to say: ‘I’ve now got the decision to make of what I do next. But it is definitely a weight lifted off. If I met the love of my life, I might need to use those eggs with him. So you know it’s just like a little insurance policy.’
Amy appeared on Love Island back in 2019, when she was coupled up with Curtis Pritchard.
Curtis broke Amy’s heart when he returned from Casa Amor after flirting with model Jourdan Riane, leading to the infamous ‘I was coming back in here to tell you that I loved you’ showdown.
Last year Amy revealed she was still seeing a therapist 14 months on from her stint on the show.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
