Piers Morgan got the moment he’s been waiting for today after ‘splitting up’ This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
The Good Morning Britain presenter revealed he has been named a leading figure during the coronavirus pandemic by supermarket chain Aldi.
He ranks seventh on the list with Holly and Phil on either side of him and, needless to say, separating the inseparable duo was like music to Piers’ ears.
Relishing in the news, the presenter told GMB viewers on Thursday: ‘We get so much abuse just for being us during this pandemic. For taking on the government we got abuse, we get get abused left right and centre.
‘But Aldi commissioned a poll to celebrate the people who have really kept the nation going and thank our wingmen and women to keep the nation smiling.’
Unapologetically gloating, he continued: ‘What’s even more pleasing is I’ve split up the This Morning duo.
‘Holly at six, but Phil at eight.’
He added: ‘They knew how to please me, splitting up This Morning in that way, they knew how to please me. So thank you.’
Piers’ banter comes not long after Phil was forced to deny ongoing rumours of a feud between him and Holly despite their obvious friendship and chemistry on-screen.
Speaking on Chris Evans’ How to Wow podcast this week, he said: ‘It’s constantly reported, Holly and Phillip leaving This Morning…no matter how many times we say, there are absolutely no plans to leave This Morning.
‘There are literally no plans for me to leave This Morning, I adore that show.
‘There was nothing that was being said that had any truth in it whatsoever. There was no and there has never been a feud with Holly.’
Referring to him coming out as gay in February, he added: ‘When they’re writing “Phillip and Holly and feud” we couldn’t have been closer because I’d told her my secret and she was holding me together at work.’
