Phillip looked aghast at the revelation, while Holly exclaimed: ‘No!’
The Grace Kelly musician outlined how it turned out that it was the ‘beginning of Covid’, although no one – including Laura – was aware she had the virus at the time.
‘In fact, it was the beginning of Covid. She had Covid. We didn’t know, she didn’t know, and she collapsed backstage,’ he said.
Mika, who recently released his new song Yo Yo, emphasised how ‘exhausted’ and ‘unwell’ Laura felt at the time.
Her absence meant they found themselves ‘in front of 200million people making it up’.
Holly remarked how ‘well’ the hosts did to deal with the situation, stating: ‘From watching it, nobody would have been able to tell that there was anything like that going on backstage.’
‘There’s a couple of moments where you just see me kind of looking slightly to the side for help,’ Mika admitted.
A few days after the Eurovision final, Laura revealed in a statement shared on Twitter that she had tested positive for Covid.
‘Well yes, there was something wrong… I haven’t felt well since Saturday,’ she said, referring to the day on which the Eurovision final took place.
‘I just found out that I am Covid positive and for this reason, I am isolated and can’t travel.’
The singer apologised for pulling out of performing at Amor a la Música that weekend as a result of her positive test, adding: ‘I had prepared a very special show and I had been looking forward to seeing my beautiful fans in Florida face to face.’
She concluded: ‘Now I just need to get well again and look for new opportunities for us to reunite again. Love you all!’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
