Rylan Clark was left red-faced recently after being told off by Eurovision bosses for taking acts on boozy nights out before the final.
We all know Rylan likes a party, and we’re still waiting for him to invite us to one, but is it too late to catch a flight to Italy?
The former X Factor star has promised UK’s entry this year, Sam Ryder, a night on the tiles after the big final this weekend, during which Sam will perform his hit Space Man, hoping to bring home the trophy.
When quizzed on The One Show by friend and host Alex Jones, former Celebrity Big Brother winner Rylan explained that Sam has been ‘good’ so far, so he’s waiting to hit the clubs with him once Eurovision 2022 is over.
‘I know, Rylan, that you’ve been in trouble in the past because you’ve got this tradition of taking out the UK entry the night before the competition, for a big night out, then it all goes a bit pear [shaped],’ Alex began, as Rylan cringed.
‘Now, Sam, you need to be aware, he’s into tequila’, the presenter added, as Rylan chuckled.
‘Listen, Sam has been extremely good this week. He has been on vocal rest, he’s just been doing work,’ Rylan said, before Sam chimed in: ‘I’ve been eating my salads.’
‘To be fair, it is tradition that Rylan does take the act out. It hasn’t happened this year,’ said Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills.
‘Not yet,’ said Rylan, before Scott added: ‘It might happen on Saturday.’
‘It will happen on Saturday,’ assured Rylan.
If you could let us know the time and place ASAP, guys, we’ll try to make it.
TV star Rylan is currently in Turin, Italy, where the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 is being held after rock band Maneskin won last year.
He’s been heavily involved with BBC’s Eurovision coverage and, along with Scott, has been commentating on the semi finals all this week.
Rylan took over from Mel Giedroyc back in 2018, and officially ‘turned on Eurovision’ on Radio 2 last weekend.
It seems he’s tried to be on his best behaviour this year, after the 33-year-old got in trouble with the head of the UK delegation previously for getting acts drunk on wild nights out leading up to the final.
However, he did say he’s been out with Brooke Scullion, Ireland’s entry for the competition, with One Show host and boy band icon Ronan Keating waring Rylan this evening not to ‘sabotage’ his country’s chances at winning.
Tonight will see the penultimate semi finals take place ahead of Saturday’s main event, during which the UK will hope to do better than last year, after earning zero points.
Eurovision’s semi finals continue tonight and tomorrow on BBC and iPlayer, with the final on Saturday, May 14.
