A guest on Antiques Roadshow was left stunned during Sunday night’s episode, after a piece of glassware was valued at a staggering £15,000.
The latest instalment saw presenter Fiona Bruce and the crew head to Kenilworth Castle in the West Midlands.
There, a family member of one of the local area’s famous glass companies was in town to show a special piece to the experts.
‘They’re family pieces,’ the guest said, introducing a cameo plaque and an ornate scent bottle.
‘My great-grandfather was Frederick Engelbert Kny, who was a well-known glass engraver in Stourbridge.
‘We are talking about one of the big names in the Stourbridge glass industry in the 19th century,’ ceramics and glass expert Will Farmer said.

Explaining the process behind the item, the expert added: ‘We’re talking about a layer of opal glass laid over ruby, which is then cut back to reveal the pattern and the colour. Then, it would be onto the next step, which would be to laboriously scratch away [to create the design].’
Despite it being unfinished, the expert declared it a fantastic item of Stourbridge glass.

The ‘beautiful example’ of the scent bottle was valued at £1,500, but it was the other piece that attracted the most attention.
‘The cameo glass is a slightly different thing. This market has marched on at a pace. I’m going to suggest at auction this would be £10-15,000.’
‘Wow!’ the guest said, looking shocked. ‘That’s wonderful.’
It’s the latest shock to feature on the programme, after a guest was stunned when she learnt that an old Barbie doll of hers is worth an impressive £1,500.
Antiques Roadshow airs on Sundays at 8pm on BBC One.
