John Lithgow will be reportedly reprising his role of Arthur Mitchell for the upcoming Dexter revival.
The actor portrayed the character in the fourth season of the original series, until he was killed by Dexter Morgan (Michael C Hall) himself in the finale episode The Getaway.
It’s now been said that Arthur is expected to make an appearance in the new miniseries, according to Deadline.
John, 75, will allegedly only film for about a day or so, with shooting said to commence in the next week.
This news will surely baffle fans as to how his character will be able to return, due to him being previously killed off.
Arthur Mitchell, like Dexter, had been living a secret life as a serial killer, while also maintaining a role as a family man to his wife and children.
He quickly became a favourite among viewers of the series, with John even winning a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy for his performance.

The news comes after it was previously confirmed that Dexter has assumed a new identity for the reboot, after he faked his death in the season eight finale.
A new teaser clip reveals that the elusive serial killer now goes by the name Jim Lindsay, and is a sales associate at Fred’s Fish & Game.
Fans reckon that this new cover is a nod to the author of the Dexter books, Jeff Lindsay.

The show’s official account also revealed the spoiler, with a clip of a work name badge alongside the new name, with Dexter Morgan crossed out.
The new chapter of Dexter had been announced last October, with original network Showtime behind the project.
Lead star Michael had also revealed that he hopes the new season will make up for the divisive ‘unsatisfying’ finale.
