The Witcher: Blood Origin has its leading lady with Jodie Turner-Smith leading the cast of the Netflix fantasy series.
The upcoming six-episode limited series will see the actress star as Éile, an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess.
Viewers will meet Éile shortly after she leaves her position as Queen’s guardian to follow her heart and become a nomadic musician.
However, according to Netflix’s description: ‘A grand reckoning on the continent forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption.’
We can’t wait to see how this turns out.
Blood Origin is a prequel to The Witcher, which stars Henry Cavill, and is set 1200 years before the events of the main show.
The series will follow the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal ‘conjunction of the spheres’ – when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
Other cast names are yet to be announced.
Jodie has just returned to New York with husband Joshua Jackson, having filmed a new version of the tale of Henry VIII’s ill-fated second wife, Anne Boleyn, in the UK.
The pair welcomed their daughter Janie in April, during the first wave of the pandemic.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is yet to be given a release date by Netflix.
