I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star Jordan North says the terrifying snake trial on the show changed him ‘for the better’.
Who could forget seeing an absolutely petrified Jordan have to go through the Viper Vault on this year’s series.
The Radio 1 DJ had to be buried in a pit of snakes to collect stars for camp.
Ahead of the horror trial he had to be comforted by Shane Richie as he told hosts Ant and Dec: ‘I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever been this scared in my entire life.’
He got through the ordeal by trying to think about, or rather scream about, his ‘happy place’.
His ‘happy place’ turned out to be Turf Moor, the home ground of his beloved Burnley FC.
Despite the haunting experience Jordan actually did take away some positives.
Speaking on I’m A Celebrity…A Castle Story, a look back at the series this year, the DJ says: ‘I really do feel it’s changed me for the better.
‘It’s made me more confident. It’s made me realise I’ve got so much I want to to do with my life and I can do it now because if I can get in a vault with vipers, I can go on a plane and go to New York and all the other things that I want to do.
‘I’m not going to be scared anymore.’
Jordan was a runner up, finishing in second place behind podcast host Giovanna Fletcher.
On his motivations for signing up to go into Gwrych castle, he joked: ‘I’ve watched it since I was younger. It was a show I’d always said I’d do if I got the chance and also my mum wanted a new kitchen.’
Burnley FC took notice of his stint in the castle, and after making T-shirts in his honour proudly stating ‘Happy Place, Happy Place, Turf Moor’, the team started raising money for charity in Jordan’s name.
Jordan racked up over £20,000 without even realising it.
I’m A Celebrity…A Castle Story airs Sunday at 8pm on ITV.
