I’m A Celebrity 2020 runner-up Jordan North has weighed in on the discussion surrounding secret heaters in camp, stating emphatically that the castle was ‘freezing’ during their stay.
Following the final of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last Friday, which saw podcaster and author Giovanna Fletcher walk away with the crown, various secrets about this year’s series have emerged.
One of these secrets is the mystery of heaters in camp, with AJ Pritchard saying that heaters placed in their living quarters made him feel so hot at night that he sometimes had to remove all of his clothes.
While Vernon Kay later said that there was one heater in his living quarters, he added that it was ‘rarely used’, recalling it being ‘cold at night’.
And now Jordan has added more intrigue to the mystery of the secret heaters, stressing that ‘the bedroom was colder than anywhere else’ on site.
‘In the jungle, you can sit around and sunbathe. It’s what you do when you’re on holiday. In the castle, you have to keep busy, because you have to keep the fire going. It was hard,’ Jordan told GQ.
‘There were rumours that it wasn’t that cold and we had heating, but that wasn’t the case. The bedroom was colder than anywhere else, but we did have really good sleeping bags, so we all just slept in our thermals.’
Stressing just how low the temperatures reached during his time on I’m A Celebrity, the BBC Radio 1 DJ said: ‘Let me tell you, it was cold in there.
‘We were in a castle that was built 200 years ago. It didn’t have central heating!’
Jordan added that if you watch the programme back, you should be able to tell how cold all the contestants were because they can be seen ‘all hunched over’.
‘I’ve got my snood on, my fleece, my gilet and I’ve got my hands in my pockets. We were all bloody freezing!’ he stated.
The plot thickens!
The 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity is available to watch on ITV Player.
