What time is it exactly? It’s Chico time, and he’s shining brightly in his unexpected new job.

Chico Slimani, a former X Factor contestant, has abandoned his popstar dreams to conduct spiritual and fitness retreats in sunny places.

The 52-year-old is presently teaching Block Fit workshops that include dance, HIIT, and yoga, as well as ‘breath retreats’ in Portugal, Bali, and Croatia.

If you want to join him on the next one you’ll need £1997, and enough annual leave to take time off between 19th and 28th July.

What exactly do you receive for your money? ‘We are offering you the wonderful experience of HU Breath retreats, lead by Chico from the X Factor, the same guy who knocked Madonna off the top of the UK charts with his number one hit “It’s Chico Time,” according to the description.

‘Chico will serve as your breath work facilitator and mindset mentor,’ it added.

‘This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to explore your inner-self and discover the timeless within, shedding years of lifetime habits that may have held you back from being your greatest self.

‘All of this will be experienced in the breathtaking paradise that is Bali, offering a feast for the senses where your heart will sing and your soul will dance. In short, this experience is priceless!’

Depending on how you look at it, it’s either priceless or slightly under £2000.

Chico hosted the Geordie Shore group in his Portugal resort last year for a special episode of the MTV show.

Chloe Ferry, Sophie Kassai, and Holly Hagan were among those who participated in a Chico healing session, which became highly emotional.

Chico, too, shed a tear when Chloe, 27, talked up about the anguish of losing her father to cancer.

His current position is a big cry from his cheery X Factor character from 2005.

He advanced to the quarter-finals of the singing competition with Sharon Osbourne as his coach.

The next year, he recorded It’s Chico Time, which reached number one, and afterwards a cover of Ottawan’s D.I.S.C.O, which peaked at number 24.

He then released a third single, which despite a big risk didn’t go so well.

‘I spent quarter of a million of my own money on my third single Curvy Cola Bottle Body Baby — it was all about size zero in the fashion industry,’ he told The Sun.

‘It didn’t get any airplay and flopped. No one wanted to take Chico seriously. I had just £3.70 left in my pocket — with a family [Chico is married to Daniyela Rakic-Slimani, and the couple have two children], a mortgage and all my credit cards maxed out.’

Despite having nothing else, he remembered giving the change to a homeless individual.
