Yewande Biala is among those throwing their support behind Love Island star Kaz Kamwi, who wasn’t picked until last in the first coupling.

ITV2’s hit dating series returned on Monday night and saw Essex native Kaz as the last girl to be chosen by one of the boys, before eventually being coupled up with Toby Aromolaran by default. She had earlier stepped forward for Aaron Francis but he ended up choosing Shannon Singh.

It stirred a sense of deja vu for viewers who noted that three other Black women in past series were also not picked until last.

Yewande cheered her on and tweeted: ‘Rooting for @kazkamwi so much ! It’s literally the ghetto in there!’

Former Love Island winner Amber Gill also cheered her on and wrote: ‘C’mon Kaz with the baddie energy.’

Many viewers fumed that Kaz didn’t have much luck during the first coupling, with one commenting: ‘Seeing Kaz picked last I’m tired already.’

Alongside a photo of Yewande and Michael Griffiths who were both coupled up by default, another viewer said: ‘Toby and kaz?? History repeating itself.’

‘If kaz gets the yewande and samira treatment i swear,’ another warned.

Sharing the sentiment, one fan wrote in similar fashion: ‘Yall better not pick my babes Kaz last.’

An equally frustrated viewer said: ‘These love islanders best not treat Kaz the way they treated previous black girls that went on the show.’
