Janet Devlin of The X Factor has revealed the injuries she sustained after fainting in a hotel corridor alone.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night, according to the Irish singer, 28, who featured in the Simon Cowell programme in 2011, which was finally won by Little Mix.

She said on Twitter that following the collapse, she went asleep but didn’t know how long she was out for and ‘went to work the next day as normal’ until she began having discomfort.

The performer also posted photos of herself in a hospital bed with a bandage over her arm and another with a noticeably swollen jaw.

Janet wrote: ‘I woke up with a swollen jaw and a really painful wrist. I thought I had an abscess in my gum and slept funny on my wrist. I was wrong.

‘I actually smashed my jaw on the floor and my wrist too. Luckily I’m fine. My bloods are normal. Nothing is broken. I’ll be getting a referral to look into the heart again. Oh and resting up!’

Janet praised the NHS and the physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel who had cared for her, as well as her followers, for their ‘beautiful messages,’ and announced that she had been discharged.

Get well soon, Janet.

Janet has already spoken out about her time on The X Factor, claiming that producers instructed her to be more emotional.

She said: ‘I was being quite emotionless, which got on their nerves. They said how do you expect anyone to connect with you unless you let your guard down? Eventually, I cried. It was horrible.’

Janet’s grandfather died while the episode was being filmed, which meant more tears on tape.

‘They asked what happened, I cried and that was it. I needed to address it because the fact he’d passed away had already trended on Twitter,’ she explained.

It taught me that opening up sometimes isn’t necessarily a bad thing – but it’s a lot for a 16-year-old to deal with, to open yourself up to millions of people like that.’

Janet received the most votes on the programme for four weeks in a row, until she appeared to forget the words to Hanson’s Mmmbop, which sent her packing.

However, she explained it wasn’t a case of amnesia and instead was the result of bile coming up through her throat mid-song after eating a ‘massive dinner.’

‘I felt a bit ill and when I was singing I felt bile coming up in my throat, swallowed it, and lost my place in the song,’ she said. ‘I just thought: “Please don’t throw up on national TV.”’

Janet has recorded three studio albums as a solo artist after The X Factor, the most recent of which, Confessional, was released in 2020.

She also released covers of Elton John’s Your Song, Ed Sheeran’s Bad Habits, and Prince’s Kiss in 2021.
