Well, that’s it for another series of Strictly Come Dancing!
The series 19 final aired last night and saw Rose Ayling-Ellis and partner Giovanni Pernice, and John Whaite and Johannes Radebe compete for the coveted glitter ball trophy.
After a groundbreaking series, EastEnders star Rose was crowned the winner, making history as not only the first deaf person to take part in the show, but also to become champion.
Fans are, understandably, missing the glitzy dance show already, so when can we expect it back on our screens?
Will Strictly Come Dancing return in 2022?
Strictly has become a household favourite across the country, and it’s something we count down to every year.
The show is showing no signs of coming off air, as we can only presume it will be back and bigger than ever next year.
The series 19 launch show aired on September 18, so there might just be nine months to wait until we meet the cast of 2022.
An official launch date for the next series has not yet been confirmed, but we expect it to return to BBC around the same time.
Who will be on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022?
The confetti from the series 19 final has only just been swept up off the dance floor, but there’s already speculation around who’ll appear on Strictly next year.
This year featured a stellar line-up, including McFly’s Tom Fletcher, Olympian Adam Peaty, BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker and Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn.
The series also saw its first male-male partnership in John and Johannes, who have been praised for providing LGBTQ+ representation for millions.
It’s likely Strictly will want to attract another star-studded cast next year, with perhaps more diversity and same-sex couples.
There are always rumours flying around about who might be putting on their dancing shoes next, and those names currently include Louis Theroux, who told Radio Times he’d love to take part.
Announcements usually start in August, so keep your eyes peeled.
As for the judges, series 19 saw Anton du Beke step up as replacement for Bruno Tonioli, sitting alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse.
The dancer – who has been part of the show since day one – said he’s ‘loved coming back every week,’ but no decisions have been made yet around the next series.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk about whether he’d go back to being a dancer next year if Bruno returned (he was unable to travel back from his home in the US due to Covid), Anton said: ‘I haven’t got anything to say about that, only because it’s not a decision I can make.
‘We’ll leave that until next year, I suppose. Ask me next year!’
Meanwhile, veteran judge and everyone’s favourite Mr Nasty, Craig, is showing no signs of stepping down – especially after he hated missing just one show this year after testing positive for Covid.
Head judge Shirley and Motsi have also not commented on whether they’ll be back, but we presume the fan-favourite panel will be itching to get back to it next year.
Where to watch more Strictly Come Dancing
If you’re already in need of another Strictly fix, never fear, because it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
The show will return for a Christmas special on Christmas Day, where an incredible line-up will take to the floor.
Former Great British Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc and broadcasting legend Moira Stuart lead the line-up.
They will also be competing against TV and radio presenter Adrian Chiles, First Dates maître d’ Fred Sirieix, The Repair Shop star Jay Blades and singer Anne-Marie.
But if you’re not ready to say goodbye to the class of 2021, you can watch all episodes from this series on BBC iPlayer, and have a Strictly party every weekend for the forseeable.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Strictly will head out on tour in cities up and down the country next spring, so you can experience the Charlestons and Jives in real life.
Pro dancers and your favourite stars from the current series will be dazzling arenas around the country in Strictly Come Dancing Live!
The tour has 33 dates and kicks off in Birmingham, before heading north to Leeds and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Major cities Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool follow, as do penultimate performances in Glasgow and Nottingham.
The O2 in London is the final stop, hosting five shows from February 11-13.
All venues have a mix of matinee (afternoon) shows as well as evening performances.
Celebs taking part in the tour include finalists Rose, John and AJ Odudu (who was forced to withdraw days before the final due to injury).
They’ll join Tilly Ramsay, Rhys Stephenson, Sara Davies and The Wanted’s Max George.
Original judge Bruno will also be returning for the tour, and he will judge alongside Craig and Shirley.
It Takes Two presenter Janette Manrara, a former Strictly professional, will be hosting the show.
So, if you’re sad that the latest series is over, don’t fret, because there’s plenty to keep you going until next time!
