Come Dine With Me has become a veritable staple of the Channel 4 schedule since it began in 2005 – bringing us some unforgettable conflicts, unexpected drama and sometimes even some good cooking.

And one of the highlights of the show over the past couple of decades has been the presence of narrator Dave Lamb, bringing his witty commentary to proceedings as the latest contestants whip up their culinary delicacies.

But just who is Dave – and what else has he done beyond the realms of Come Dine With Me?

Here’s what you need to know…

Who is Come Dine With Me’s Dave Lamb?

Dave went in front of the camera for the first time in 2016 (Picture: Channel 4)

The 49-year-old is a presenter, comedian and voice actor who has been a part of Come Dine With Me since it began in 2005.

Prior to that he was a voice-over artist on the satirical cartoon series 2DTV, as well as being a regular on the sketch show Goodness Gracious Me.

Dave’s sharp narration has become one of the highlights of the show for many viewers – although he has since admitted that much of his commentary in the first series was ad-libbed, but that the show’s writers have since learned how to write for his voice.

As well as the British version of the show Dave can also be heard on Come Dine With Me South Africa – while his other work includes narrating a series of Come Dine With Me-esque sketches on Horrible Histories, as well as narrating the 2015 reboot of Danger Mouse.

More recently, he was commentator on 2018 BBC One game show And They’re Off…for Sport Relief, which was hosted by Ore Oduba.

Has he ever appeared on the show?

Actually yes he has – Dave came out from behind the cameras in 2016 to appear in person in the show’s ‘Champion Of Champions’ series.

That spin-off saw him inviting previous series winners to his ‘country pile’ to show off their culinary skills once again in a bid to be crowned ultimate winner.

However he has stopped short of appearing in person in a celebrity edition of the show – saying he’s not famous enough to be a contestant.

We beg to differ, Dave.
