Love Island has returned to our screens, bringing with it a fresh set of singletons yearning for love.

One of them is Molly Marsh, who has previously made headlines due to a prominent family link.

Janet Marsh, the musical theatre performer’s mother, has walked the Coronation Street cobblestones, so perhaps she’ll have some amusing tales for us as the season progresses?

Molly, though, is far from the only Islander to have a renowned parent.

Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma Owen finished second last summer, while Ronan Keating’s son Jack Keating competed as a Casa Amor bombshell.

Of course, Danny Dyer’s daughter Dani Dyer rose to stardom after winning the dating programme in 2018.

So, while we prepare for our Love Island summer dose, let’s have a look at Molly’s family tree…

Janet Marsh may be familiar to you from ITV’s longest-running soap.

In fact, the actress has portrayed three characters in Corrie.

On the programme, she has played a nurse, a receptionist, and an ITU nurse.

Janet’s acting career does not stop there, as she has been in programmes such as Still Open All Hours, Where The Heart Is, Bodies, and In The Dark.

Molly said how thrilled her mother is awaiting her arrival in the Love Island villa.

The 24-year-old was asked if her mother had offered her any advice on how to deal with the cameras.

Molly stated at a news conference that Janet is “very open to opportunities,” but that she hasn’t offered her any particular advice.

‘We already have been very big fans of the show,’ she added, saying they would ‘all sit together every time Love Island’s on’ and speculate over who Molly would couple up with.

‘They know how the show works and what it entails.

‘So they are really excited for me and they know how much I love being in a relationship.

‘They know that I love being in love, so they do want that for me again, so I can probably leave them alone a bit!’

Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
