Peaky Blinders fans heard rumblings of Gina Gray’s Uncle Jack going into business with Tommy Shelby – but just who is the yet unseen figure?

Last weekend’s season opener revealed massive tensions unfolding within the Shelby family, as Michael Gray (Finn Cole) sets his sights on revenge against his uncle Tommy (Cillian Murphy).

But while the pair might be sworn enemies, they’re still on talking terms for business purposes.

Tommy is looking to get friendly with Gina’s powerful uncle Jack, who is Michael’s boss.

The leader of the Peaky Blinders met up with some of the magnate’s associates about a potential business opportunity in the aftermath of prohibition ending in the United States.

Despite it initially seeming they wouldn’t be managed to be convinced, a tense scene between Tommy and Gina appeared to sway the latter into changing her mind.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new character, who will soon appear on our screens.

Who is Gina Gray’s Uncle Jack?

Although we haven’t met yet his character, he’s known to be a figure with political influence and has control of a large import and export business

Some fans are convinced Uncle Jack will turn out to be Joe Kennedy Senior – father of former President, John F Kennedy – which has been heavily hinted at by creator Steven Knight.

‘I’m not giving that away so soon,’ Steven teased when asked about the connection to Joe Kennedy Sr by Den Of Geek.

‘As ever with Peaky [Blinders], you look at history and you take real facts and fictionalise them. There is a resonance with Boston, with senior politicians…’

He added to the publication: ‘The best you can do as a writer is to take what really happened, which is always beyond anything you would dare invent, and then use that. And what really happened in the 1930s with these powerful people, is something that, as a writer of fiction, you wouldn’t dare to create because it’s so insane.

‘So it’s trying to take some of that madness and chaos of reality and put it into the story.’

At the end of episode one, Tommy revealed that he would be heading to London alongside Jack, Gina, and others – leaving Michael furious.

So it’s likely we’ll see him make an appearance in episode two…

Who will play Uncle Jack and what has he been in before?

James is thought to be starring as Uncle Jack (Picture: BBC)

Although it’s not been confirmed, it’s thought actor James Frecheville – who is one of four new stars in season six – will star as Gina’s high-profile uncle.

Australian actor James is best known for his role in Animal Kingdom as Joshua ‘J’ Cody, a confused teenager and youngest member of a criminal family in Melbourne’s underworld.

So we’re sure he’ll fit in well in the world of Birmingham’s most notorious gangsters.

Promo shots show the star looking very suave in a suit, as we predict he’ll cause more than his fair share of drama, with his character not yet known to fans.

Elsewhere, James has starred in BBC’s adaptation of Pursuit of Love alongside Lily James and the 2018 series Requiem.

Peaky Blinders season 6 continues on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
