When is the Vikings season 6 part 2 release date and how can you watch for free?

Very soon, the final few episodes of Vikings are set to air, bringing the historical drama based on the sagas of Ragnar Lothbrok to an end.

Having first launched in 2013, the series introduced viewers to Viking warrior Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), in addition to his first wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), who was killed in the first half of season six.

In a first look at the second half of the season released earlier this month, it was revealed that Bjorn Ironside (Ludwig), son of Ragnar and Lagertha, survived his battle with Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen), having been left for dead on a beach.

Meanwhile Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith), the son of Ragnar and his second wife Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland), is in Iceland on his journey to travel further west than any Viking before him, in an effort to fulfil the aspiration of his father.

While the programme has aired on the History TV channel in Canada since its launch, the final 10 episodes will be made available on a different platform.

What has the Vikings creator said about its final outing?

Ahead of the release of Vikings season six part two, the show’s creator Michael Hirst teased that ‘tears will be shed’ when viewers watch the final episodes.

‘Prepare to be astonished, and for many surprises along the way. And if you have tears to shed, then also be prepared to shed them,’ he said.

During a recent interview with Express.co.uk, Michael spoke about the long-lasting impact Ragnar has had on the show, having met his end in season four after being thrown into a snake pit.

‘He didn’t go away, ever. He has always been in the show and he is right until the end,’ he said.

The final 10 episodes of Vikings season six are due to be released on Amazon Prime on December 30.
