Or if you want to escape into a fantasy world then why not try Night Sky, which is sure to give your evening a touch of magic.

The Americanisation of British schools continues apace with this tongue-in-cheerleader twist on the dating show.
A bunch of pre-Love Island age wannabe students enrol at a make-believe high school that’s in Devon but acts more Delaware as jocks, nerds and popular girls bitch, bond, snog and bust up in true teen movie fashion.
Though it’s all for real – kind of.

Night Sky
There’s always been something slightly otherworldly about Sissy Spacek,
so she’s perfectly cast here as an ailing woman, nearing the end of her life, who discovers what could be a secret portal to another world – a world that offers… well, who knows what.
The discovery certainly gives her fresh purpose as she gets caught up in a tale with more than a whiff of the magic realist supernatural about it. JK Simmons plays the husband who tries to keep Sissy grounded.

The Lincoln Lawyer
Fresh on the frankly pretty implausible heels of Brit political drama Anatomy Of A Scandal, the busy US writer-producer David E Kelley is the man behind this slick TV series remake of the 2011 Matthew McConaughey film.
Kelley’s on familiar ground with the legal world, having created LA Law and Goliath, so the yarns with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s maverick LA lawyer (Lincoln refers to his car, not his location) have a rather more authentic ring than his Westminster capers.

Life & Beth
Beth is about to hit 40 and feels like her life is a failure, given that she hates her job, her boyfriend and the city she lives in.
Now that sounds like a depressing set-up, but thankfully it’s Amy Schumer playing Beth, so she winkles out salty humour from all the mess.

We’ve not quite got over the fact that the gripping Giri/Haji didn’t get a second series – BBC, what were you thinking? – but this is the next best thing.
Ansel Elgort plays real-life US journalist and committed Japan lover Jake Adelstein in this dramatised account of the crime reporter’s adventures in the Japanese capital in the 1990s.
There are culture shocks at every turn.
