Warning: spoilers ahead for Moon Knight.
The time has come – tomorrow the release date for the Moon Knight finale arrives on Disney Plus, bringing the rollercoaster ride of the six episodes in the Marvel series to an end.
Every week, the show has gone in directions that even diehard fans of the comics couldn’t predict, as Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac) and Steven Grant grapple with coexisting in the same mind.
At the end of episode five, Marc wound up in the Field of Reeds after being transported to the afterlife with Steven, which occurred after Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) shot them dead in the tomb of Ammit.
While they were originally there together in separate bodies, Steven ended up falling off the boat taking them to the Field of Reeds, becoming frozen in the sand.
So what could happen in the final episode? Here are our predictions.
Steven will survive
We’re calling it now. Yes, Marvel has dealt with its fair share of devastating deaths, from Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) to Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), but we refuse to believe that Steven is gone forever.
While Marc made it to the Field of Reeds, trailers released for Moon Knight have teased an epic showdown with Harrow… meaning that he will somehow make his way back to the real world.
In doing so, he’s surely going to find a way to save Steven in the process.
Mr Knight will flex his muscles
When the posters for Moon Knight were released, the picture of Mr Knight gave the impression he was not someone you would ever want to cross.
However, while Mr Knight has shown potential on the battleground so far, he’s yet to fully embody his fighting spirit.
Given he is a force to be reckoned with in the comics, and the fact that we predict Marc will save Steven, we reckon episode six will demonstrate that Mr Knight is also not to be trifled with, as well as Marc’s Moon Knight.
We’d love to see a fight scene with Harrow where Moon Knight and Mr Knight are in perfect sync as they flit between identities, which would further illustrate how Marc and Steven have learnt how to work together as one.
Ammit will return
Speaking of Harrow, his aim the whole series has been to find Ammit’s tomb so that he can free her.
Given snippets of Harrow’s fight with Moon Knight have been teased, we suspect he will succeed in his aim, allowing him to become a full conduit for her power.
Jake Lockley will arrive
Throughout Moon Knight, fans of the comics have spotted hints that a third identity named Jake Lockley has been lurking in the shadows, while Marc and Steven remain none the wiser.
At the start, Steven was confused when he questioned if he had asked a coworker out on a date, while in Egypt, neither Marc nor Steven knew what happened when they became present in the middle of a fight, with two men on the ground dead.
In the mental institution where they were in the afterlife, a third sarcophagus was shown in a room, shaking as someone inside seemingly yearned to come out.
Will Jake – who in the comics is a cab driver – finally make his highly anticipated appearance?
Could there be cameos?
While it’s always fun for Marvel films and TV shows to tie into one another, it has been refreshing to watch Moon Knight without lots of references to the MCU, allowing viewers to get to know the character on his own accord.
Nonetheless, given tomorrow is the final episode of the series, could cameos be on the way?
There are rumours about certain already-established characters showing up, such as Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk or Mahershala Ali’s Blade (who’s yet to be seen on screen).
However, there could still be room for new characters to be introduced, such as Bushman, Marc’s former commanding officer who he later went to work for as a mercenary.
Considering Bushman caused the death of Layla’s father on the day Marc almost died himself, a match-up between the pair would be intense to say the least.
Khonshu will set his sights on Layla
It was previously revealed by Marc that the reason he was trying to distance himself from his wife Layla El-Faouly (May Calamawy) was because Khonshu wanted her as his next avatar.
We have a feeling the Egyptian moon god will continue with this aim once he is freed from stone… but neither Marc nor Steven will be ready to let that happen.
Marc and Steven will be done with Khonshu once and for all
While Khonshu is the reason Marc is still alive, that doesn’t mean he is an all benevolent god.
The deity takes advantage of Marc’s mental health condition, dissociative identity disorder, and forces him to do his bidding lest he go after his wife as his avatar.
Many fans have referenced a strip from the Marvel comics where Marc, Steven and Jake tell Khonshu that they don’t need him, prompting the god to disintegrate.
It would make for a powerful end to Moon Knight’s first outing, if he’s able to continue as the superhero in future without the god looming over him at every turn.
Moon Knight is available to watch on Disney Plus with the finale dropping on Wednesday May 4.
