The bookies have revealed who they’re banking on boogying for the forthcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing, from team Tropicana to England football team legends.
Every fall, the BBC staple returns to keep audiences delighted as the chilly winter evenings draw in.
Last year, wildlife presenter Hamza Yassin won the Glitter Ball prize with partner Jowita Przystal.
But who will follow him as Strictly winner? If the reports are accurate, it won’t be any of the ITV stars who are purportedly barred from participating.
But these are the names at the top of the bookies’ rankings…
Who could appear on Strictly Come Dancing 2023?
Ladbrokes have published the latest odds on who could be taking a cha-cha-chance at Strictly this year.
And the names include:
- Layton Williams – 1/3
- Nigel Harman – 6/4
- Andrew Ridgeley – 2/1
- Ade Adepitan – 5/2
- Bobby Brazier – 3/1
- Emma Willis – 7/2
- Rochelle Humes – 9/2
- Chris Gascoyne – 5/1
- Helen Chamberlain – 5/1
- Olivia Hawkins – 6/1
- Tim Lovejoy – 6/1
- Zara McDermott – 8/1
- Thomas Skinner – 10/1
- Jill Scott – 10/1
- Nicola Sturgeon – 16/1.
Name’s ringing a bell? Let’s find out more about the rumoured stars.
Andrew Ridgeley
Andrew Ridgeley, 60, is an outstanding singer, songwriter, producer, and author who is sometimes referred to be “the other one” from Wham! – aka not George Michael.
He’s one of the favourites to compete this year, so let’s hope he recalls those moves from the 1980s.
He’s already stated that he’d be interested in doing the programme, so what are they waiting for? It’s time to go…
Nicola Sturgeon
Nicola Sturgeon, the former leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), was perhaps the most surprise name on the list.
Politicians aren’t strangers to Strictly – who can forget Ann Widdicombe or Ed Balls strutting their stuff? – but the former First Minister of Scotland may be an odd pick since she faces suspension from the party if she is proven to be engaged in allegations of financial impropriety.
Sturgeon was detained last month by police who were looking into claims of financial mismanagement within the SNP. She was questioned by investigators “as a suspect,” but was subsequently released without charge, awaiting further investigation, after coming to a police station willingly.
Emma Willis
Bobby Brazier
Bobby, the son of the late Jade Goody and an EastEnders actor, may be a potential contender now that he’s become a popular character on the BBC’s soap this year.
Rochelle Humes
Rochelle Humes, 34, is another possible candidate. She already has a huge job at the BBC, co-hosting The Hit List with husband Marvin Humes.
Rochelle, who has previously performed in groups such as S Club Juniors and The Saturdays, might also be a natural on the dancefloor.
Tim Lovejoy
Tim Lovejoy, 55, of Sunday Brunch, might exchange whipping things up in the kitchen for stirring things up on the dancefloor.
Tim’s co-star on the show, chef Simon Rimmer, competed in the series in 2017 to give Tim some suggestions (albeit he was eliminated sixth).
Helen Chamberlain
This is fascinating – from former closest friends to dancing enemies. Helen Chamberlain, Tim Lovejoy’s Soccer AM co-host, is also on the bookies’ shortlist.
Nigel Harman
Nigel Harman, 49, is best known for his appearances in EastEnders and Downton Abbey, although he frequently plays the bad guy.
Will this scoundrel, though, prove to be a killer on the dancefloor? He is one of the betting favourites to participate.
Jill Scott
Jill Scott, a former Lioness, has demonstrated her agility on the football pitch, but will she score with the judges when it comes to Pasodobles over penalties?
Ade Adepitan
Adedoyin Olayiwola “Ade” Adepitan MBE, 50, is a wheelchair basketball player and television personality.
Ade might be the first wheelchair user to appear on the show, and suspicions that executives desired this representation surfaced earlier this year.
Olivia Hawkins
Olivia Hawkins, 28, of Love Island fame, is apparently being considered for the next season.
Olivia was notably Michelle Keegan’s body duplicate, but will she be able to move her body correctly in front of the judges?
Chris Gascoyne
Chris Gascoyne, 55, is best known for playing Peter Barlow on Coronation Street. He has portrayed the character for 23 years, first appearing in December 2000 during a live, 50-minute episode commemorating the show’s 40th anniversary.
He just left the ITV serial to seek other opportunities, so Strictly may be in the cards.
Thomas Skinner
Another candidate brought into the equation is The Apprentice competitor Thomas Skinner, 32, and since he’s expressed interest in doing Naked Attraction, signing up for Strictly seems quite probable.
Layton Williams
Layton Williams, 28, a West End and Waterloo Road actor, might take his stage abilities to the Strictly ballroom.
