Channel 4 has blessed us with a brand-new property show for us to feast our eyes on, but if you think this show is the UK’s answer to Netflix’s Selling Sunset, then think again.
The glossy three-part series, which kicks off tonight, was originally titled Property Porn Stars, follows a number of ambitious agents at Tyron Ash Real Estate.
Business owner Tyron Ash leads the charge alongside his attentive team as they sell some of the most luxurious and expensive homes across the county.
However, although the synopsis suggests fiery competition behind the scenes, agents Erin, Brett and Quas insist that it’s actually the opposite, and no matter what, they had each other’s backs.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Quas said: ‘Yes we are all self-employed but we always help each other to win at the same time, that’s what makes it such a tight-knit family.
‘I can call Brett my brother finally,’ he joked.
‘It’s interesting to see and be part of a company that is really pushing cultural and gender diversity. I’ve learned so much in the time that I’ve been here.’
The first episode premieres on Channel 4 on Wednesday, February 9, and the promo has already had people comparing the British show to another Netflix reality series across the pond.
Selling Sunset explores the lives of glamorous real estate agents in Los Angeles, and features agents Christine Quinn, Chrishell Stause, Maya Vander, and many more navigating their personal and professional life.
While the cast of Mega Mansion Hunters understood the comparison, they believe their show holds a striking difference.
‘It’s so British and raw and we’re all like so real, so you can’t compare it,’ said Erin.
‘We’ve got people effing and blinding.’
‘We’re selling nice properties and there’s a bit of drama and that’s about it,’ Brett added.
‘Apart from that, it’s totally different in my opinion, especially as a company and the way that we act is super super different.’
Although the show promises to show the glitz and glamour of the property worlds, a few of them also share their personal struggles of making it into the business due to their ethnic background.
‘Tyron gives everyone the chance,’ said Brett.
‘And it’s definitely opened my eyes, coming from a privileged background, going to a private school in the Midlands, which is a predominantly white area.
‘It’s a really important thing and hopefully, we’ll see more companies doing the same,’ he added.
Mega Mansion Hunters airs on February 9 at 10pm on Channel 4 .
