Susannah Constantine has stated that she has no intention to recreate What Not to Wear.

From 2001 to 2005, the TV personality co-hosted the successful BBC series with Trinny Woodall.

In it, the two would ‘ambush’ a woman picked by their friends as being particularly unfashionable before giving her a makeover.

After receiving £2000 to go shopping for a new outfit, the hosts would coach the participant based on their body form and self-image.

Known for their tactile style, the presenters didn’t hold back, with Trinny’s remarks occasionally bringing viewers to tears, and Susannah even instinctively pulled a female candidate’s knicker line down during recording because her knicker line was visible.

The programme was so successful that it received two Bafta nominations during its existence, and the duo also performed the voices of murderous androids that gave makeovers in a futuristic episode of Doctor that in 2005.

Despite its success, Susannah, 61, has announced that she has no intentions to bring the programme back.

‘What Not to Wear, no, I would not revive it, I think What Not to Wear was an incredible show,’ she said.

‘The way we did it doesn’t have its place today unfortunately, it would be great but it’s time for the next round of women or men to do it, Trinny and I had our time.’

‘Trinny is so busy with her make-up brand which is phenomenal, and we’ve always been polar opposites and now our lifestyles reflect that, so I am very happy living in the countryside, I now consider myself to be a mum first and a wife, very 1950s, who also happens to work,’ she added when speaking to The Sun.

After What Not to Wear, Susannah became a style expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show and co-hosted Trinny & Susannah Undress on ITV in 2006 and Undress the Nation in 2007.

She has featured on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2015 and Strictly Come Dancing in 2018.

However, she has since ruled out ever starring on another reality programme after being removed first on both seasons.

Although she said she would ‘never retire’, Susannah said TV had now ‘changed so much’ and was instead focused on ‘speed and efficiency’.

‘I think that’s taken away the authenticity that was around in the early 2000s, so it’s a different animal now,’ she explained.

Sharing she ‘loved’ working on the Jeremy Vine Show and Lorraine ‘because you’re talking about things the viewers are interested in’, Susannah said she would work on a ‘documentary of some kind…but not reality TV’.

After meeting in 1994, Trinny and Susannah collaborated for seven years on a style guide before embarking on their successful series.

Lisa Butcher and Mica Paris took over as hosts for the show’s final two seasons after they left it.

What Not to Wear is streaming on Prime Video.
