While competing in a reality show, a television host fell in front of his wife.
Grant Denyer is an Australian media figure best known as the host of reality shows such as Australia’s Got Talent, Iron Chef Australia, and Family Feud. He has also appeared on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Dancing with the Stars.
He’ll also be appearing on the latest season of The Amazing Race Australia, which will feature Cody Simpson’s sister Alli and their mother Angie, former The Wiggles star Emma Watkins and her sister Hayley, former Too Hot to Handle contestant Harry Jowsey, and Love Island Australia contestant Teddy Briggs.
This all-star edition of the reality programme follows Australian celebrities and their partners as they travel across India, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Borneo in a race against the clock to win $100,000 (£50,000) for their charity of choice.
This week, the teaser for the forthcoming season was published, and dramatic images depict Grant passing out while everyone around him seek medical treatment.
Grant can be seen on the ground as paramedics attempt to provide him with immediate medical assistance, while his wife Chezzi looks on.
‘Can we get the medic? He’s shaking, he’s shivering,’ a voice can be heard saying.
When announcing that he’d signed up for the show with his wife, Grant said it would be like ‘everyone’s dream holiday, except with less sleep, exhausting running with enormous backpacks and chronic traveller’s belly’.
‘We have no idea where we’re going, what we’re doing and how to get there. It’s giving me chronic anxiety just thinking about it. I really should have chosen The Mask Singer but those novelty heads look really hot and uncomfortable.’
He added: ‘Plus my wife is with me on this one… and she makes a great travel pillow. If the last 14 years of marriage haven’t tested us already, this definitely will. Pray for us. Pray for our marriage! Think of the children.’
His medical mishap follows Chezzi’s recent hospitalisation for a dangerous eye infection that may have resulted in her losing her vision.
When she shared the specifics of what happened on social media, she recounted how physicians originally suspected it was the consequence of an X-rated deed.
Chezzi said on her It’s All True podcast, which she co-hosts with her husband, that she went to the hospital when medications failed to clean up her infection.
‘They said: “Do you and your husband have sexual partners?” And I was like “No, what are you asking?”,’ Chezzi explained.
‘And they said it could be chlamydia. And I asked: “How do you even get chlamydia in your eye?”
‘And then they asked me, “Has your partner ejaculated in your eye?”
‘I have never laughed so hard until I realised he was being serious. And I was like “No, he has been away!”.’
While tests were undertaken for the STI, they came back negative, much to her relief.
