Anna Paquin has spoken out about the news of a True Blood reboot, saying she’s ‘not mad’ despite not being aware that it was taking place.
True Blood, a fantasy horror series about vampires trying to integrate into human society, ran for seven seasons from 2008 to 2014.
Anna, 38, played lead character Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress who falls in love with vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer).
Earlier this week, it was reported that a True Blood reboot is in the works from the creators of teen drama Riverdale.
TVLine reported that the reboot is still in the early stages of development with HBO, with original showrunner Alan Ball supposedly working on the production.
After news of the upcoming series began circulating online, Anna tweeted that she had not been informed about it.
‘Well, this is the first I’m hearing about this,’ she wrote.
In response, one Twitter user speculated that the Oscar-winning actor was ‘mad’ about the reports, stating: ‘You can tell she mad, go off queen.’
In response, Anna said: ‘Not mad, just answering the question that has inundated my feed.’
HBO has not yet commented on the news of a True Blood reboot, while none of the original cast have been attached to the project
True Blood was based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris.
It was set in a world where vampires were able to live among humans following the development of a synthetic blood substitute, which meant that they didn’t have to hunt humans for sustenance.
It also featured other supernatural creatures, including werewolves and fairies.
Anna won several awards for her performance in True Blood, including a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama in 2009.
All seven seasons of True Blood are available to watch for a fee on Amazon Prime.
