Vampire series True Blood is getting the reboot treatment from Riverdale creators, according to reports.
The hit HBO series, based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris, will get getting a fresh treatment from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Jami O’Brien, with original showrunner Alan Ball said to be attached to the project.
TVLine reports that the team is in early development stages with HBO to bring a new version of Sooki Stackhouse’s story to the small screen once again.
The original series debuted in 2008 and enjoyed immediate success with viewers.
Anna Paquin led the cast as telepathic waitress Sookie alongside Alexander Skarsgard, Joe Manganiello, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, and Rutina Wesley.
So far, none of the original cast are attached to the new series.
The series took place in a world where vampires live among humans after the creation of a synthetic blood substitute allowed vampires to stop hunting humans for food.
However, that didn’t mean vampires didn’t still enjoy biting into humans.
The show ran for seven seasons before coming to an end in 2014, with Alan Ball working as the showrunner for the first five seasons.
