Top Gear has been called out after Freddie Freddie unknowingly drove an ‘illegal’ car on the latest series.
The presenter was behind the wheel of a Ford Cortina 1.6GL in the first episode of the 30th series, which aired on March 14.
According to The Sun, checks showed that the car had its colour incorrectly registered with the DVLA.
As a result it was unlawful to use on the roads for the filming of the hit BBC series.
Freddie drove the car for a section all about the Top Gear presenters’ dads and the cars they remembered from their childhoods.
Fredd joined Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris for a trip down memory lane, with Paddy driving a Ford Fiesta and Chris driving a 1980 BMW 323i.

The Cortina used by Freddie had been rented for use on the show, but was still registered by the DVLA as being white.
A Top Gear spokesman said: ‘The Cortina used for three days of controlled filming last October fully met the obligations required by law for use on Public Highways and has been warehoused ever since.
‘However, notifying the DVLA of a respray to the vehicle via our third party leasing company should have happened quicker and we are grateful to the conscientious viewer for pointing this out to us.’
Meanwhile, Top Gear fans recently praised bosses for an emotional tribute to Sabine Schmitz after the professional motor racing driver, known as Queen of the Nurburging, died last month aged 51.
Following her death, former presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May returned to Top Gear to say a final goodbye to their colleague, in a special episode of the show.
Top Gear is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
