The first trailer for XO Kitty, To All The Boys’ spin-off series, has finally arrived, and we’re instantly hooked.
There’s no disputing that Kitty Covey, masterfully portrayed by Anna Cathcart, stole the show in the Netflix trilogy based on Jenny Han’s tremendously famous books.
Fans were overjoyed when it was revealed that the character will star in her own series, which would premiere on the platform in May.
The episodes will follow the adolescent as she travels halfway across the world to reconcile with her long-distance sweetheart, Dae (Minyeong Choi), whom she met in the film To All the Boys: Always and Forever.
In the latest video, she can be seen giving her father (John Corbett) a PowerPoint presentation and telling him, ‘I know when two people are meant for one other,’ alluding to sister Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo).
‘It’s a feeling I get. I felt it for Lara Jean and Peter. I felt it for you two, and I feel it for me and Dae.’
Kitty described a memory chest she discovered that belonged to her late mother, discovering that she received a scholarship at KISS, the boarding school where her long-distance sweetheart studies.
In true Kitty style, she revealed: ‘I applied to KISS and I got in. I got the same scholarship as mom.’
We wouldn’t expect anything less…
The 10-part series, which will also star Gia Kim, Sang Heon Lee, Anthony Keyvan, and Peter Thurnwald, will be published on Netflix on May 18.
The official synopsis reads: ‘Teen matchmaker Kitty Song Covey thinks she knows everything there is to know about love.
‘But when she moves halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, she’ll soon realize that relationships are a lot more complicated when it’s your own heart on the line.’
In 2021, we last saw the Coveys in the third installment of the Netflix franchise, Always and Forever.
The film followed Lara Jean and Peter as they prepared to graduate from high school and attend college, while also pushing their relationship to the next level.
Lana previously discussed whether she will resume her role as Lara Jean again, as well as her predictions for what would happen between the lovebirds.
‘I think never say never. [But] the third is all I know. To me, that’s the ending,’ she told the New York Times. ‘But I would really like to see Lara Jean and Peter in their mid-to-late 20s. Like they’ve gone through college, and I want to see what they’re like in the work space.
‘I have this dream that Lara Jean is working in some realm of literature, I don’t know, in New York, writing, living her life. Because I personally have this feeling that they’re going to try to make it work in college, but they’re going to have to grow separately to be fully ready to come together.
‘But I know for a fact that they’re going to get married; they’re going to live happily ever after. I just think they might need to grow as individuals first.
‘And then I’d love to see them meeting each other again – she’s like at a cafe writing an article for a newspaper she’s working for, and he happens to be there, and they meet again in a new way where they’re older and developed. That would be so cool. If it happens, you heard it here first.’
XO Kitty premieres May 18 on Netflix.
