Timothée Chalamet made his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live this weekend, and fans quickly spotted a subtle message left during the curtain call.
The actor wore a hoodie featuring the logo of Legendary, days after the production company announced its intention to challenge Dune’s move to HBO Max.
It comes after the news that Warner Bros will be releasing its entire slate of 2021 films both in cinemas and on the streaming platform.
Warner Bros’ upcoming 17 films, including Dune which stars Timothée in the lead role, will be available to watch on HBO Max at home on the same day they come out in cinemas.
The decision was made amid upheaval in the film industry due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but it’s proven to be a controversial one. Influential figures like Christopher Nolan have hit out at the news.
Legendary are behind Denis Villeneuve’s new adaptation of Dune, and it was previously reported that the company is challenging HBO Max’s call to move the film to the streaming platform.
As Deadline reports, Legendary provided substantial funding for the film, but it received no advanced warning for the new release plan.
Timothée, it seems, is supporting Legendary’s cause, and fans were quick to point out his message.
‘Uh oh Timothee Chalamet ended #SNL in a Legendary hoodie you’re done now, HBO Max,’ one fan wrote.
‘Timothée Chalamet pointedly wearing a Legendary Pictures sweatshirt at the end of his SNL appearance, which was probably initially booked as Dune promo…’
Dune stars the likes of Timothée, Josh Brolin, Oscar Issac, Zendaya, Jason Momoa and Rebecca Ferguson.
It tells the story of desert planet Arrakis – aka Dune – which is the only source home to the most valuable substance in the universe, ‘the spice’, which helps prolong human life and provides superhuman abilities.
