Tiger King’s Joe Exotic announces bid to run for US president in 2024 from behind bars

Another reality TV celebrity is vying for the presidency of the United States, with Tiger King star Joe Exotic formally registering his candidature for the 2024 race.

The former zookeeper, 60, shot to global popularity after appearing in the hit Netflix documentary about the Big Cat industry in the United States and his feud with Carole Baskin.

Exotic, real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage, was eventually convicted of attempting to pay two different individuals to assassinate wildlife activist Baskin last January as a result of the conflict.

Although receiving a 21-year prison term, Exotic aspires to be the head of the free world, announcing on social media that he will run for president next year.

He wrote: ‘It’s official! I am now a candidate for President of the United States in 2024’ and also shared a picture that read ‘Make America Exotic Again’, in an apparent nod to Donald Trump’s slogan.

Exotic, who has set up a campaign website, added: ‘Yes. I can run for President from prison, as a felon. Please go learn your constitution, before you vote.’

Exotic had already ran for president in 2016, so this is not his first run for the White House.

He ran as an independent candidate against Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton at the time.

Exotic spoke out against Tiger King earlier last month, alleging that the docuseries had “definitely” wrecked his life.

He told TMZ: ‘Did Tiger King ruin my life? Absolutely. I was filming just a little tiger film in 2016 and 2017 and then Netflix and Eric Goode and all of them turned this into this conspiracy to kill Carole Baskin to make a show.’

In addition to his presidential ambitions, Exotic has stated that he wishes to marry his fiancée Seth Posey.

The former zookeeper refused further treatment last month after physicians warned that his prostate cancer had spread to his bladder.

It has recently been revealed that he wishes to leave his whole inheritance to his other half, whom he met on the internet.

He also stated that he had a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) provision in his will in case of a medical emergency.

Tiger King is available to stream on Netflix.
