Alison Hammond was tapped to anchor This Morning today, causing her to rearrange her trip.
Josie Gibson has been fronting the programme with Craig Doyle all week, but on yesterday’s broadcast, he disclosed he was going on vacation and made sure he left a bit of a commotion with some vicious comments.
Craig, 52, was substituted for Alison, 48, and Josie, 38, was relieved to see her.
She was especially grateful because Alison had to cancel her own vacation to be there.
‘Thank you so much for being here with me today because you’re meant to be on holiday,’ said Josie in the opening segment of the show.
Alison responded: ‘I only did it because of you and the viewers. I did it for you really.’
‘So you’ve not gone on holiday just to present with me?’ clarified Josie.
‘I’m going tomorrow. I’ve changed my flights just for you and I’m going to go tomorrow.’
To celebrate fronting the performance together, the couple hugged and hailed each other legendary.
In another scene, Alison felt forced to apologise to young fundraiser Tony Hudgell for missing his latest mission.
The eight-year-old walked up Orrest Head after being molested as a newborn by his biological parents, which led to his having his legs amputated after being brought to hospital with various organ failures, fractures, and infections when he was just one month old.
‘You needed you and you never came,’ he told Alison.
Alison apologised for not keeping her commitment and said she was filming The Great British Bake Off.
‘I do need to explain it to you. I was recording an episode of Bake Off and I couldn’t make it.’
‘Next time I’m going to try my best to be there. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there. I am disappointed in myself,’ she added.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
