A man who tried to touch his own ears on a This Morning phone-in left presenters Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes speechless.
In the section, people called the ITV programme to talk about their phobias and worries in an effort to overcome them.
But Colin found that ineffective.
As the Liverpudlian rung into the show, he explained: ‘Since I can remember, the late teens, I’ve had a phobia of ears, and it’s that bad that I haven’t had a haircut past my shoulders for over 30 years.
‘I can’t stand the sight, I can’t stand the touch of ears.’
He continued by saying that he was terrified of everyone’s ears and that he was unable to speak on the phone while holding it up to his head.
‘Your ears make me sick,’ he told Phillip, adding it would be ‘very, very difficult’ to touch his own ear.
Colin continued by explaining that he may have developed the anxiety as a result of his mother forcing him to have clean ears as a youngster and his desire to avoid getting into trouble.
Finding the source of his anxiety, however, didn’t actually help Colin get over it; he tried to touch his own ears, which made him choke.
That’s not a smart reaction, Phillip shook his head as he touched his ears and screamed into the phone.
Trying to move on, Phillip added: ‘I think he was at the beginning of that, he was just getting started.’
‘That took a turn didn’t it!’ Rochelle added.
Phillip replied: ‘You just never know.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
