The Witcher fans received more than they were bargaining for when the credits began rolling at the end of season 2, with a post-credits scene revealing a first look trailer for the prequel series Blood Origin starring the one and only Michelle Yeoh.
The second season of the Netflix fantasy show delivered with even more epic monsters for Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) to slay throughout the eight episodes, as he, Princess Ciri (Freya Allan) and sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) embarked on a dangerous adventure.
When the finale finished, many fans would have undoubtedly begun yearning for season three already.
However, a tease for an upcoming project related to the universe would definitely have whetted their appetites.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is to be released as a limited series on Netflix, set 1,200 years before the events of the popular show.
The drama will depict the creation of the very first witcher, as well as the events that led to the so-called Conjunction, when monsters entered their world from another realm and magic, otherwise known as chaos, first came into being.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Michelle plays Scian, the last member of a nomadic tribe of sword-elves who is on a mission to take back a special blade that was stolen from her people.
In the first teaser released for the show, one of the opening shots shows Éile (Sophia Brown), a warrior of the Queen’s guard, threatening someone with her knife, while Fjall (Laurence O’Fuarain), who was born into a clan of warriors, holds an axe aloft on his shoulders.
Michelle’s character Scian is shown carefully balancing a sword and then practising with it gracefully, hinting at the mission that she has at hand.
The trio are then seen together, looking into the distance on a hilly landscape before the bloody fighting ensues.
A short clip also features It’s A Sin star Nathaniel Curtis looking extremely pensive while standing on a beach, with the actor playing a character called Brían.
Having starred in numerous productions showcasing her fighting abilities, it appears as though Michelle won’t be holding back yet again in the action-packed spin-off.
The Star Trek: Discovery actor shared her excitement over the teaser being released, posting a picture of her character on Instagram.
‘What a time to be alive for Michelle Yeoh fans,’ one person commented in response, while another said: ‘This woman is literally in everything and I’m here for it.’
‘This #BloodOrigin spin-off with Michelle Yeoh looks seriously intriguing. Keep it coming!’ someone else remarked on Twitter, while another added: ‘Can’t wait for #BloodOrigin!! The sneak peak at the end of #TheWitcher2 looked so exciting.’
